Qualifying

  • Each driver is allocated a particular heat for qualifying. All heat listings are posted at the start of the event.
  • Qualifying is measured by computer timing using transponders that are attached to the car. The club provides transponders for those who do not have their own.
  • Qualifying is normally contested using an aggregate of a drivers fastest two heat times. Note that certain events organised by PRCC may adopt specific and separate qualifying rules but these will be announced at the start of the event.
  • All drivers qualifying times are posted at the end of each round of qualifying.
  • Qualifying is against the clock and not other drivers. Please allow faster cars to overtake
  • The start of a drivers time in each heat of qualifying is individual to each driver and starts as their car crosses the start line.

Finals

  • Finals are started using a standard grid. Drivers position on the grid and the final in which they will compete is determined by their qualifying results. Fastest qualifyer starts the A Final in pole position, Finals are started using a count down. With four seconds to the start cars are placed stationary on the track and at zero the start flag is raised to start the race. Remember the race can’t be won on the first corner.
  • Re-fueling cars at marshal points is not normally allowed but may be permitted when instructed by Race Control.
  • Where frequency clashes occur the lower placed driver may be requested to change.
  • Once the ‘A’ Final is completed the event will be called to an end by Race Control. At this point the club would appreciate any assistance that could be provided in putting the clubs equipment away.

General Notes and Rules

  • Should any attendee leave the clubs track facilities with a club transponder, the offending person will be expected to make every effort to notify and thereafter return the transponder to a club official as soon as possible. Failure will result in the offending individual, who shall be indentified from the race listings, being banned from the club.
  • Any member found to be on the track site other than during an organised race meeting or without the prior permission of the Committee may have their membership revoked
  • Transmitters, other than those operating on 2.4 MHz shall not be switched on during any period of attendance at the club unless an official peg authorising use has been collected from the PRCC pegboard or clearance has been given by Race Control. • Transmitters MUST NOT be switched on during any attendance at the club unless you are racing or authorised by Race Control.
  • During timed racing events time penalties may be applied to drivers who in the opinion of Race Control drive or behave in an un-sportsmanlike or unfair manner. This may include such offences as corner cutting, incorrect use of the pit lane, persistently blocking a faster car, deliberate collision with another car, driving dangerously, using an unauthorized frequency, poor or absent marshaling or driving in the wrong direction. Other occurrences may be penalized if deemed appropriate by the Race Director or a member of the Committee.

  • Everybody attending a PRCC race meeting shall be required to behave in a courteous manner and respond to the directions of Race Control or PRCC Officials.

Marshalling

  • The most important aspect of marshaling is to ensure your own safety at all times before entering the track or approaching a car. If you are unsure about how to marshaling then please ask.
  • Marshals should apply themselves to the best of their ability and not be distracted by idle chat or mobile phones,
  • Concentrate on your section of race track and not on the race itself.
  • All drivers will marshal the heat after their race. Substitute marshals are allowed and it is the responsibility of the driver (not race control) to supply an acceptable substitute marshal to fulfill the drivers duties.
  • Marshal points for a particular race final will be filled by the drivers from the previous race using the finishing order to determine the positions.
  • Marshals are required to be BRCA members and have a minimum age of twelve.
  • Marshals arrive at the track prior to a final or heat in good time as instructed by Race Control and shall stay at the points until the race has been called to a finish.
  • Failure to marshal or provide a marshal once the race has started will incur a time penalty to be applied at the discretion of Race Control.
  • Chairs should not be taken to marshal points.
  • Marshals can expect cars to have the brakes applied as they approach a car. Drivers who do not provide this courtesy can expect a Marshall to delay their assistance.
  • If a driver does not contest a heat they must still carry out marshaling duties on the following heat.
  • Do not leave your marshal point during a race. Any stalled or damaged cars should be put on the trackside to be collected by the driver or their representative. Marshal should not return cars to the pits.
  • Marshals should wear the yellow jackets provided by the club and familiarise themselves with the insurance provisions made available by the BRCA as part of their membership.

Pit Lane

  • The pit lane is part of the race and as a consequence should be kept clear at all times.
  • Cars must be removed from the pit lane before any re-fueling or maintenance is attempted.
  • Drivers must reduce speed when entering and leaving the pit lane. Failure to comply will carry a penalty
  • If a car leaves the track at any point then it can only rejoin the track at the pit lane.
  • Caution must be taken when leaving the pits, racing traffic has right of way
  • Drivers mechanics and assistants when in the area adjacent the pit lane should show consideration and not block the passage of club officials or other mechanics and not block the driver’s view of their cars when in the pit lane.

Weather conditions.

  • The website will be updated on the date and time of the next event. If for any reason a meeting is to be canceled a specific post will be made on the website.
  • If the meeting has started then it will be the decision of Race Control and those club officials present to cancel the meeting.
  • If weather conditions deteriorate during a race, the race may be abandoned but this will only be as instructed by Race Control. Drivers withdrawing from a race prior to this instruction do so at their own volition.
  • In the event of a league meeting being canceled if at least 1 round of qualifying has been completed then league points will be awarded on the qualifying positions as apply at the end of the last completed round. Any refund of race fees will be at the discretion of the club officials.
